5 TIPS TO FOLLOW

Social media marketing is one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to market your brand, connect and engage with your customers and reach your target audience. In saying that, it can be hard to know where to begin when adopting a social media strategy. The team at izest Start have created their top 5 tips to follow for small businesses and start-ups.

1. Ensure your posts are consistent

There’s nothing worse than a disorganised Instagram feed, with every post looking totally different to the last. Pick a look and stick with it. That means identifying the right colour scheme, logo and design to suit your brand. Once you’ve done this, try to avoid posting content that doesn’t follow this colour scheme or design. You want your customers and followers to identify this look with your brand and eventually know the post is your brand without even having to look at who posted the image or story. Ensuring you’re using the same profile photo and timeline photo on all social media channels is also important.

2. Make sure your social platforms are integrated

Integration across digital platforms is important and makes your business appear more professional. Different people have different preferences when it comes to communication and where one customer might like tweeting brands, another might prefer to email you or contact you through Messenger. Integrating your social channels enables your customers to reach you on their preferred channel through your website or a specific social media account. The most important way to integrate your channels is on your website. All of the different ways you’re contactable should be present on your website, from social media to your phone number.

3. Humanise your online voice

Humanisation is an important marketing tool and helps your customers to identify with your brand. Humanising your brand is essentially showing your followers that you are human too by opening up and being more transparent. Humour is an easy and effective way to humanise your brand and makes you a lot more relatable to your following. Sharing behind the scenes content with your followers also does this. For example, sharing an image of a member of your team wishing them good luck in the marathon they’re running to raise money for charity will really make your followers identify with you.
