As a digital marketing agency, it’s no surprise that we love books on different aspects of marketing. Here’s 3 books we really enjoyed and recommend to business owners, marketers or anyone interested in brands.

1. How Brands Grow by Byron Sharp
This fantastic book answers questions asked by marketers every day. Byron Sharp is a professor in Marketing Science in the University of South Australia. Sharp uses evidence-based marketing to back up his arguments and addresses a range of concepts such as the 7 principles of marketing and brand strategy. He ultimately argues that brand distinction is the key to brand growth rather than brand differentiation. If you’re looking for a book on branding that will shock you as well as delight you, this is the book for you. It is a must read book if you are in the industry, a sucker for a scientific and data driven outlook or in the process of developing your own business.

2. Purple Cow by Seth Godin

This insightful book covers the why, the how and the what of remarkable marketing. Seth Godin is an author, entrepreneur and above all, a teacher. Godin states that the 4 P’s of marketing are not enough to make a real impression on the modern consumer and identifies a 5th ‘P’, Purple Cow. This book ultimately says that if you don’t turn your business into a purple cow, you won’t succeed. Although this book is nearly a decade old, the information is still relevant and applicable. A brand truly must be remarkable in order to be noticed.

3. One click by Richard L. Brandt
This book is both a biography of Jeff Bezos and a book on brand growth, covering the Amazon owner’s life and how he came to build such a successful brand. Through several interviews with Amazon employees, Brandt decodes how Bezos thinks, what drives his actions and how he makes decisions. These insights give the reader valuable knowledge into how he created the digital empire that is Amazon. Brandt ultimately concludes that by making it as easy as Jeff Bezos makes it to purchase items on Amazon is always going to lead to success.
